While you’re in Ocala, you should try your hand at fishing. Even if you’re a novice, there are some great places you can go to catch fish. Find out which lakes and rivers deliver the best fishing experiences.

This waterway is one of the hotspots for largemouth bass. At approximately 15 miles long, the waterway is full of many fish species. You can find exceptionally large bass, sunfish, catfish, and crappie.

Hidden in a corner of the Ocala National Forest, Doe Lake has some interesting history. The area has a Civilian Conservation Corps dining hall that was built in the 1930s. There’s also a recreation center with a deep freezer, bathhouse, and other amenities.

Orange Lake is a popular fishing spot among avid fishers. The lake is almost 13,000 acres large and has a fishing pier with a fish attractor. If you want to get on a boat, you can head out into the water and expect to find lunker bass, bluegill, and more.

Bordering on the Ocala National Forest, this river is about 74 miles long. With plenty of fallen trees, deep holes, and vegetation, this river has many hiding spots for fish. The area is relatively untouched by humans, so you can get the true Florida experience.
