Vero Beach Attraction: St. Lucie County Aquarium

Lionfish

There are many ways in which you can experience marine life in Vero Beach. But one of the more overlooked ways is to visit the St. Lucie County Aquarium. This Vero Beach attraction is a unique experience to get up-close and personal with some of the local marine life.

There’s a great amount of diversity in the waters of Vero Beach and its surrounding areas. However, you don’t always have a chance to see that diversity. At the St. Lucie County Aquarium, you don't only get to see stunning marine life. You also receive a chance to learn about it.

For example, the aquarium has a living model of a coral reef. That reef was part of an exhibit at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History for about 20 years. At the aquarium, you can also find exhibits that focus on the Indian River Lagoon and nearby areas. You can also learn about ongoing research projects.

The museum is located in Fort Pierce on South Hutchinson Island. Its hours vary depending on the time of year; it is closed on Mondays from April through December. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for children and seniors.
